When you have an apartment at Albany Lofts at One Broadway, you’re just a short commute time from numerous Albany area locales like Troy, Schenectady, and Clifton Park. Drive a little further up I-87N (about 45 minutes) and you’re in the historic city of Saratoga Springs!
Saratoga is the perfect destination for a mental health day or weekend day trip. Below we’ve constructed the perfect itinerary for a fun day exploring all that Saratoga has to offer!
Morning: First things first, get your jolt on! Saratoga is home to several excellent coffee shops. Here are three spots where locals frequent most: Saratoga Coffee Traders, the home of Death Wish coffee; Uncommon Grounds, a larger homestyle famous for their bagels and in-house coffee roasting; and Mrs. Londons, a French bakery where you can feast on fresh baked bread and pastries.
Mid-Morning: While the rest of the city wakes up (and your caffeine kicks in), the morning is the best time to explore Saratoga’s many free parks. There’s Congress Park, a smaller but beautiful park on the south end of Broadway with plenty of ducks to watch and springs to sample; Saratoga Spa State Park, for a bucolic walk through nature and the historic baths; and Saratoga National Historical Park, an educational trip to the battlefields of Saratoga and visitor center.
Noon: After your trips to the park, it’s time to shop, shop, shop! Downtown Saratoga is home to many unique art galleries, specialty food stores, and boutiques. Nothing is better than finding a new keepsake you can’t find anywhere else. After you’ve shopped to your heart’s content, reward yourself with lunch downtown. There’s plenty of restaurants with patio and sidewalk seating so you can people watch as you eat.
Afternoon: After Lunch, make your way to Saratoga Lake to spend the afternoon out on this famous lake. We recommend renting a kayak or paddleboard at the Kayak Shak or going for a daytime cruise via Adirondack Cruise & Charter Co. (And if you’re not one for going out on the water, the views at Waterfront Park can’t be beat!)
Dinner: There’s a number of elegant and classic Saratoga favorites for a memorable dinner: Sperry’s, a historic Broadway establishment that’s been open since 1932; Salt & Char, for the best steak in town; and the Mouzon House, a farm-to-table Creole restaurant set in an 1883 Victorian brick home. Pro Tip: Make reservations earlier in the day so you don’t miss out on these delicious destinations!
Night: You can’t beat the nightlife in Saratoga Springs. After dinner, stay downtown on Caroline Street for nighttime fun no matter your style. Whether you want to listen to jazz music (9 Maple), dance the night away (The Reserve), or drink specialty cocktails (Hamlet & Ghost), it’ll be a night to remember.
